Lady Tigers down Cards in two sets

The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers downed the Clinton Lady Cardinals in two sets, 25-19, 25-16, Tuesday night at home.

The pre-game warm up began with a serving competition with former alumi players Becky Hammond, Susan Christian, Tina Luper and Judy Curd, while other alums stood cheering them on court side. Former District champion Judy Curd won the competition.

During the varsity game, the Tigers were led by Abby Knight with 13 kills and 6 blocks. Courtney Koetting had 23 assists, 3 kills, one block and one ace. Bailey Curry contributed 7 kills, one ace, one block and a team high 17 digs. Hannah Meyer had 4 assists and Montana Hedrick added 2 more assists, 3 kills and 6 digs. Brittany Borke had 11 digs and Kaylie Creach added 6 digs. Darby Simon contributed 3 kills for the night. Kali Edwards added one block and one ace.

The Lady Tigers traveled to Warrensburg Thurday night for another conference match on their Pink Out night. The JV will play in the Green Ridge Tournament Saturday, Oct. 12. On Monday, S-C plays Knob Noster at home with the JV game starting at 5. On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Lady Tigers play Jeff City at home, with the freshmen game starting at 5.
