State Fair Community College’s fifth president, Dr. Joanna Anderson, was inuagurated with a special one-hour welcoming ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Stauffacher Center. Former SFCC presidents Fred E. Davis and Dr. Steve Poort were also in attendance for the ceremony, as were members of the SFCC Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn. Dr. Anderson gave her inaugural address at the event.
Remarks from representatives of the SFCC Board of Trustees; the Student Government Association; the SFCC Foundation; and the college’s classified, professional and staff associations, as well as Dr. Brent Bates, vice president for educational and student support services, were presented, also.
Music was provided by the SFCC Chamber Choir, while American Legion Post 642 presented the Colors. A reception in the Parkhurst Commons followed the ceremony.
Dr. Anderson was chosen for the position by a 12-member Presidential Search Committee. She officially assumed her new position on July 1. She came to SFCC from Casper College, a community college with 5,000 students in Casper, Wyo., where she served as vice president of student services since 2007.
