S-C Lady Tigers clobber Center in two

The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers boosted their record to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in the West Central Conference race. The Tigers beat Center 25-6, 25-16 in two consecutive games.

The Tigers started with a 16-1 lead with Courtney Koetting earning 5 aces, Abby Knight with 2 kills and 2 block kills, and Montana Hedrick with 2 kills. Bailey Curry continued the action with 3 kills, while Hannah M. added one. Kali Edwards ended the first game with an ace.

S-C started the 2nd game with some errors to make it a 4-4 game. With a tip kill by Kali Edwards and an ace by Kaylie Creach, the Tigers began to gain momentum. Two kills by Knight, a kill by Koetting and an ace by Edwards earned the Tigers a comfortable 15-10 lead. Darby Simon kept the rally going with a kill added by two aces by Curry, a kill by Knight and an ace by Knight to finish the game for the Yellow Jackets. Knight finished the evening with 9 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks and an ace. Koetting tallied 5 aces and 15 assists for the night. Hannah Woolery contributed 5 assists. Curry had 3 digs, 3 kills and 3 aces. Kaylie Creach and Sarah Garcia each added 3 digs for the Tigers. The Junior Varsity won their games 25-11, 25-10. The Freshmen won 25-21, 25-15.

The Tigers will play at home on Saturday, hosting the S-C Invitational. Varsity begins at 8 a.m. with junior varsity starting at 9:00.
