First Vice President Pam Doane opened the meeting at 6 p.m.
Shirley McCown offered prayer and devotion. Judy Ebers led the Pledge of Allegiance
Secretary Charli Ackerman read the minutes from the August meeting. Approved
Treasurer Sheryl Von Holten presented the treasury report. Approved.
Pam announced the Fourth Congressional District Women’s Meeting will be held in Sedalia on Sept. 28, at Michaels Restaurant. The regular meeting will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch at noon. $12 per person. Theresa Hensley, Cass County Prosecuting Attorney, will be the guest speaker.
The Committee for the Community Café asked for more donations of cookies, and will also need more volunteers to help as three of the regular workers will be absent. Donna Franklin and Fran Shafer volunteered to bring cookies every month, and several volunteered to work.
It was announced that the theme for this year’s Christmas Parade is: Salute to Armed Forces. We need to be thinking of creative ideas for a float.
Discussion was held about guest speakers for our Women’s meetings in the future. Several individuals were suggested.
Donna Franklin relayed that the PC Democrats Club would be meeting at Best Western on Sept. 26 with the meal at 6pm, and meeting to start at 6:30 p.m.
Updates were given on two of our club members who have been sick and to keep them in our prayers, . Connie McLaughlin motioned that we give each of them $100 from our club treasury. Judy Ebers seconded. All agreed. Charli Ackerman will send the checks and Get Well/Thinking of You cards to each of them.
Charli Ackerman relayed that it was voted at the last Democrat Club meeting that we purchase T-shirts with a Pettis County Democrats logo on them. She relayed what the approximate price would be. The order forms will be ready at next month’s meetings.
