The Clifton City Volunteer Fire Department was one of 182 such organizations in Missouri that received a grant to help with the purchase of personal protective gear and firefighting equipment recently.

The grants were awarded and distributed by the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Forestry Division staff, according to Richard Beard, president of the area department.

Fire departments receiving the grants are required to match 50 percent of the funds, it was reported. The Clifton City department will use the money received, a total of $2,175, to purchase 10 pagers and one mobile radio.
