The Smith-Cotton Tigers scored a 2-0 win over Belton Friday in their first appearance in the 2013 S-C Tiger Boys Soccer Invitational, being held at Susie Ditzfeld Memorial Field and Clover Dell Park. Referees halted the match at the 20-minute mark for five minutes in each half to allow players to rest and hydrate themselves in the extensive heat. S-C beat Grain Valley at 9 a.m. Saturday at Susie Ditzfeld Field.

Due to the heat index, this afternoon’s trophy games in the Smith-Cotton Boys Soccer Invitational have been cancelled. Activities Director Rob Davis said it will be up to the schools that qualified for the championship and third-place matches to find time to play those games this season.

Smith-Cotton will face Harrisonville for the title, while Battle and Grain Valley will play for third place, according to Bob Satnan, Communications Director, Sedalia School District 200. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
