The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners have signed Cleveland, Mo., native Kathleen Yoakum for the 2013-2014 season.

Yoakum played high school basketball for head coach Chad Dean at Cass Midway High School. She was a four-time All-Conference selection, earning First-Team All-Conference honors in her final three seasons. She also earned All-District honors all four years.

During her senior campaign, Yoakum averaged 16 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 steals per contest. She wrapped up her outstanding career at Cass Midway with 1,293 points and 622 rebounds.

“Kathleen is very fast and athletic and fits into our system well,” said Head Coach Kevin Bucher. “She was one of the top players in her area, and we are glad to have her.”

Yoakum also was a standout track and field athlete at Cass Midway. She won a state championship in the 800-meter race as a sophomore. She chose not to go out for the team as a junior, but returned as a senior to win a pair of individual state championships in the 400-meter and 800-meter races. Yoakum was also part of state championship teams in the 4 x 400-meter and the 4 x 200-meter relays.

Yoakum was on the honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to major in either Business or Exercise Science.
