“In an ongoing effort to reduce operating expenses, to continue our green initiative and to maintain our beautiful county facilities, the Pettis County Commission authorized Mr. James Theisen; our county grant writer and director to apply for a DNR grant,” said Pettis County Presiding Commissioner John Meehan on Tuesday.
The 100 cubic yards of recycled rubber mulch is made of 100 percent used tires from Missouri. The grant was awarded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and does not require a local match. Using this recycled mulch will give once discarded tires a second life and keep them out of the landfill. The rubber mulch will be used to beautify the landscape around the Pettis County Public Safety building, Meehan noted.
