Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary recently awarded its annual nursing scholarship to April Rogers.
Rogers, a nurse’s aide in the Critical Care Unit at Bothwell, plans to pursue a degree at State Fair Community College in hopes of becoming a licensed practical nurse. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
“Nursing allows a person to explore many aspects and challenges a person’s mind,” Rogers said. “The brain of a nurse is constantly working, solving problems and building collaboration skills. I am excited to pursue a career in nursing.”
The Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary annually awards scholarships to applicants who are enter the nursing field or who are Bothwell employees furthering their nursing education.
“Our hope for the Auxiliary scholarship is that students will continue to pursue nursing careers and will choose to stay at Bothwell after finishing their education,” said Karen Suroff, chairman of Bothwell’s Auxiliary Scholarship Committee and a former nurse at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
