Operation “Clean Sweep” was held Saturday, July 20 in Sedalia. Shown are the many participants in the event. Approximately 60 volunteers gathered to help in the thirrd neighborhood cleanup event. The area covered was the north-central portion of Sedalia.

Support came from volunteers throughout Sedalia and groups from Whiteman Air Force Base and the Pettis County Democrat Club. Organizations who assisted by donating services and items included McDonald’s Restaurant, The Salvation Army, Waterloo Industries, Starbucks, PROP and the Sedalia Parks Department. Councilmen participating were Mayor Horn, Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Cross, First Ward Councilman Steve Galliher and Fourth Ward Councilman Tolbert Rowe.

At the end of the clean-up event, a large picnic was held at Hubbard Park. It was arranged for debris not picked up on Saturday due to the large volume to be picked up on Monday, July 22. Photo courtesy Gary Edwards.
