I firmly believe Sedalia’s Community Center should be built before a stadium is built. Benefactors, please keep this in mind.
The Midtown T & F District was set up with two objectives: for addition to assisting in funding for downtown street and sidewalk improvement projects, it was intended to provide funding for the land acquisition and preliminary site development of the former Sutherland Lumber Co. property on East Broadway for the future construction of the Sedalia Community Center.
The T & F plan projects revenue of $1.5 million for the costs associated solely with the Community Center to be located within the T & F district.
I believe we, the citizens of Sedalia, should stress that the Community Center be located in a “central area of the community.”
The Sutherland site is good because it is centeral, accesses the Katy Trail, is presently unused and was the site selected through the public input study for the Community Center project.
Please recall this study, that our city conducted at a cost of approximately $67,000.
