Nurse midwife joins Bothwell OB/GYN

Certified Nurse Midwife Jayme Jackson has joined Bothwell OB/GYN Associates in Sedalia.

Jackson has seven years of experience as a certified nurse midwife and most recently worked at Webster City Medical Clinic & Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, Iowa. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, and her master’s degree in midwifery from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kan. Jackson is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Midwives.

A nurse midwife is an advanced practice registered nurse who has had training in obstetrics and works in collaboration with a supervising obstetrician. Midwives can evaluate and treat women’s health conditions, conduct pelvic exams, breast exams and Pap smears, in addition to many other women’s health concerns. Labor and childbirth of a healthy woman is one of the many focus areas within midwifery care.

Jackson joins Certified Nurse Midwives Liz Current and Lindsey Wilson and Nurse Practitioner Faye Evans at Bothwell OB/GYN Associates, located in the Bothwell Healing Arts Center at 3700 West 10th in Sedalia. Physicians at Bothwell OB/GYN Associates include Dr. David Oberkrom, Dr. William Smith and Dr. Amy Thompson. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
