Martha Burkholder, 79, of Sedalia, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs.
Born March 15, 1934 in Paducah, Ken., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Inez Graham. On Aug. 2, 1954 in Darmstadt, Germany, she married Billy Lee Burkholder, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2006.
She is survived by two sons, Scott Burkholder of Parkville, and Kent Burkholder and his wife Kelly of Sedalia; three daughters, Pamela Gates and her husband Alex of Blue Springs, Amy McKnight and her husband Roger of Maple Grove, Minn. and Wendy Pfetcher and her husband Kevin of Lee’s Summit; two brothers, Richard Graham of Nashville, Tenn.; and Dr. Thomas Graham of Northport, Ala.; one sister, Anne Phillips of Irving, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Burkholder was a member of First Christian Church and a resident of Winchester Meadows in Sedalia. She made many friends there and enjoyed socializing and playing bridge. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, friends and spending weekends at the lake.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 27 at 2 p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chad McMullin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Therapy Center, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
