A Cup From Above, located at 3031 Clinton Road, opened this past January and they hope to sway the hearts of Sedalia coffee lovers with their outstanding coffee and personal service.

Owners Bo and Christal Espinosa, along with co-owners Tom and Betty Dellinger, have transformed their location into a coffee drinkers dream.

They offer quality products that won’t break the bank.

Bo Espinosa was asked about the remodeling job that was done to their location in the months leading up to their opening.

“It was about a month-and-a-half. It could have gone quicker, but I did not have a crew.

“It was me doing the manual labor, and my wife and mother-in-law did all of the painting,” said Espinosa, who has a background in construction.

Espinosa was asked where the name A Cup From Above came from.

“It was something that was an inspired thought by my wife,” he said.

Espinosa went on to explain why they made the decision to open a coffee house.

“We’ve been looking to something outside of the construction that I worked in. Last summer a lady asked if anybody wanted an old espresso machine. I decided to take it.

“After that we started thinking about it. I went to my father-in-law. We started looking hard and trying to figure out what we needed to do,” Espinosa explained.

He added, “We started a crash course in coffee shops. Six months we opened a coffee shop.”

A Cup From Above offers a wide variety of coffee and non-coffee drinks, as well as pastries, scones and homemade caramels.

They serve scones, pastries, cupcakes, coffee drinks, Italian sodas, pressed coffee, frappes, chocolate covered coffee beans, hot chocolate and homemade caramels.

They also have 22 different drink flavors available, quite a few of which are sugar free options.

“Betty and Christal do all of the baking,” Espinosa said.

A Cup From Above also features a drive-thru for those customers on the go.

Espinosa was asked how there business stands apart from the rest.

“We stand above everybody else in the fresh roasted coffees,” he said.

He added, “We offer premium coffee from Hawaiian Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain. Those are quality coffees.”

Espinosa was asked how the reception has been since opening.

“For a new business, it has been very good. We have to do a lot more business, but all in all it has been good,” he said.

Another thing that separates A Cup From Above is the small business approach to the way they do things.

“We are made to order. We don’t have a corporate structure to tell us how to serve people. We have the freedom to be able to experiment,” he said.

A Cup From Above offers a rewards program to its customers, as well as gift cards.

A Cup From Above is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

They are located at 3031 Clinton Road and there phone number is 660-827-7311. They are also available at Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
