Max Keenlyside of Canada was one of several performers to appear at the first official event of the 2013 Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, held indoors at the Parkhurst Commons area of the State Fair Communnity College campus. Performer Bryan Wright served as emcee for the event on Wednesday morning.
On Thursday, June 6, Day Two starts with a “mini concert” that starts at 9 a.m. according to the official 2013 Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival program book. The free concert will feature Jacob Adams, Dr. Dave Majchrzak, Morgan Siever and Steve Standiford.
Symposiums at the Methodist church at Fourth and Osage begin at 9 a.m. and continue through noon. Admission is $5.
The rest of the free entertainment starts at 10 a.m. at four venues downtown and ends at 5 p.m.
Dance instructions are available at the Fox Event Theater, known during the music festival as “Cake Walk Hall,” from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Paid concerts on Thursday include the Ragtime Revelations Concert at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, a Donor’s Only Party at Katy Depot, and the Easy Winners Concert at 8 p.m. at the SFCC Stauffacher Theatre.
