Michael William Bohlen, Sr., 66, of Smithton, died Friday, May 24, 2013 at his home. He was born on Oct. 20, 1946, in Urbana, Ill., a son of William and Margaret (Lorenz) Bohlen, Jr.
On July 28, 1970, in Columbia, he was married to Cheryl Reeves, who survives of the home.
He enjoyed carpentry, working with his hands and loved to read history. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and fought for his country in the Vietnam War. He retired in 1991 from the Marine Corps as Chief Warrant Officer 4; but never retiring his heart and soul, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine, Semper Fi!”
Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Michael (Mary) Bohlen, Jr. of Springfield, and Grant (Jamie) Bohlen of Fort Leonardwood; four grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Courtney and William-Michael and one sister, Patricia (Charles) Crowe of Versailles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 29.
