Girl Scout Melissa Rapp, 18, was honored by Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn and State Rep. Stanley Cox on Tuesday afternoon with a mayoral proclamation and a resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives.

Rapp, a senior member of Troop 30702, earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by spending 83 hours painting Centennial Pool over a six-week period in September and October. The Gold Award is the highest that can be achieved by Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. At right, Girl Scout Leader Charlotte Scholl holds the resolution from Rep. With the help of six painters, the project, dubbed ‘Rejuvenating Pool House,’ added the colors Edamame & Sundried Tomato to the structure. Rapp has plans to travel to Cape Girardeau to receive her Gold Award soon. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
