Grems clipped by Jays, 1-0

The Sacred Heart Gremlins were eclipsed by the West Platte Jays, 1-0, in the first round of sectional action at Dey Field at Liberty Park Stadium on Wednesday, May 22.

Nick Langston and the pitcher for West Platte hooked up in a pitchers duel, both picthing complete games.

The score remained tied going into the bottom of the 6th inning before West Platte was able to get on the board. The Jays started the inning with a lead-off double over the centerfielders head.

The next batter laid down a bunt moving the runner to third. Langston struck out the next hitter to get two outs. The runner took off on a passed ball before Sacred Heart could get out of the inning.

West Platte goes on to play Archie (9-9) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 in the Quarterfinals. Archie defeated the Cole Camp Bluebirds 4-3 on Tuesday night. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
