John Simmons, Community Development director for Sedalia, recently was a co-presentor on collaboration and municipal government at the National Main Streets Conference in New Orleans, La.
Meg Liston, who heads Sedalia Downtown Development Inc., also attended the conference.
The theme of the conference was “cultural economy” and the economic benefits of a strong sense of place, it was reported.
The session Simmons participated in was titled “Creative Collaborative Efforts Between Main Streets and Municipalities” and focused on development incentives created by both the public and private sectors and how the two most interact to ensure the success of large and small development projects, it was reported.
The meeting is considered the nation’s largest gathering of professionals and volunteers involved in revitalization programs for historic commercial districts.
