Sacred Heart finished with 2 wins and 2 losses to take third place, in the Sacred Heart Softball Tournament, on Saturday, May 11 at Centennial Park. Smithton took second place with a record of 2 and 2, also. Smithton took second place in the pool play format as result of beating Sacred Heart in their second game of the day.
Wellington-Napoleon took first, going 4 and 0. W-N beat Smithton 7-3, Osceola 5-3, Windsor 9-8 and Sacred Heart 5-4.
Sacred Heart beat Windsor 7-3, Osceola 10-9, in extra innings, and lost to Smithton 3-7 and Wellington Napoleon 4-5.
Windsor finished with 1 win and 3 losses. They beat Osceola 7-4 and lost to W-N, Sacred Heart, and Smithton. Windsor took 4th place because of the win over Osceola.
Osceola also finished with 1 win and 3 losses. They beat Smithton 16-3 and lost to W-N, SH, and Windsor.
In the final game of the day, Osceola jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Sacred Heart started chipping away, eventually taking a 9-7 lead before Osceola tied the score 9-9 in there final at-bat to force an extra inning. Using the International Tie-breaker in extra innings, Sacred Heart started the inning with Darby Simon at second base. Emma Honn hit a fly ball over the left fielders head to move the runner to third. Simon scored on an RBI single between the third baseman and short stop. Sacred Heart then went out and held Osceola scoreless for the extra inning win. Emma Honn was on the mound for each pitch of the day finishing with 2 wins and 2 losses.
