On Thursday afternoon, Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn issued a proclamation for National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, which is May 9. Seated with her is Matt Gass, clinic manager for Burrell Behavioral Health; and standing behind them are from left: Alaura Cowart, CSS; Leanne Eckhoff, CSS; Kerrie Armbruster and Debbie Callaway, supervisors at Burrell; Megan Adams and Clint Cross, CSS; Pam Regan, Workforce Development; and Cheri Heeren, Pettis County Community Partnership. According to statistics, half of all cases of lifetime mental illnesses occur begfore age 14, and 75 percent by age 24. Early detection and treatment promotes healthy adulthood and prevents disability. Photo by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
