S-C wins WCC track title

The Smith-Cotton High School boys track team won the West Central Conference title Monday at Warrensburg.

S-C took first with 165 points while Warrensburg was second (148) and Center third (113). The S-C junior varsity boys team also took first in its division.

S-C’s varsity conference champions include Michael Chernookiy in the 110-meter hurdles, Luke Rosendale in the 300-meter hurdles, Jacob Lamb in the 800 meters, Derek Kerbo in the triple jump and the 4×400 meter relay team.

Second place finishes included the 4×200 meter relay team and the 4×800 meter relay team, as well as Marques Raye in the 110-meter hurdles, Seth Redford in the 300-meter hurdles, Chance Johnson in the high jump, Zac Volk in the pole vault and Chernookiy in the triple jump. Brady Ritzert took third in the 800 meters and the 1,600 meters; others finishing third were David Desmond in the 400 meters and the 4×100 meter relay team.
