Supporters of the Smith-Cotton Instrumental Music program were treated to a chicken cordon bleu dinner as they listened to dozens of talented musicians during the annual S-C Big Band Dance Friday night, May 3.

Even though it was cold, dark, snowy & foggy outside, the food and music was hot inside the cafeteria, where band members served patrons their meal with the lights turned down low. Some actual dancing took place at the event as well. A silent auction also helped raise funds for the band program.

S-C Band Director Grant Maledy led the S-C Junior High Band, followed by the S-C Staff Band (a handful of musically-inclined faculty members) and finally the S-C Jazz Band. The grand finale` involved both the high school and junior high bands combined. Free dance lessons were also provided in between sets. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
