Health Center to provide free Hepatitis C testing in May

For the month of May, the Pettis County Health Center, 911 E. 16th Street, will provide free Hepatitis C antibody testing. It is recommended that all “Baby Boomers” (individuals born between 1945 through 1965) be tested.

Hepatitis C is a disease of the liver that is caused by the Hepatitis C virus. The disease can cause chronic disease of the liver, develop into cirrhosis, cancer or even death. It is the number one reason for liver transplant. Often there are no symptoms. A person can live many years without becoming sick with the disease.
