Boonslick celebrates 60

Boonslick Regional Library,  219 W. 3rd Street, hosted their 60th Anniversary Celebration and Dedication of the Catherine Scott Reading Room on Sunday, April 21. The event included a dedication for the Catherine Scott Reading Room. Scott was a former employee of the library who worked at Boonslick for 51 years.

After her passing, a $172,775 donation was made to the library from her estate. That money was used for several renovations to the library, as well as the completion of the reading room that was named in honor of Scott.

P.C. Thomas, was chairman of the 60th Anniversary Celebration Committee.

Ten area authors were on hand to visit with constituents and show off copies of their publications, while Library Director Linda Alcorn was busy greeting all the well wishers visiting the facility.

Barbara Schrader provided violin music for the occasion, and patrons were also treated to various cupcakes, fruit and cheese.

The celebration comes at the end of National Library Week. National Library Week, April 14-20. The Friends of the Library spearheaded the celebration.

Boonslick Regional Library covers three counties, including Pettis, Benton and Cooper counties. The Boonslick Bookmobile, which was available for inspection, travels those areas every week.
