Talmadge Brown of Sedalia shows off a four-pound red morel mushroom grown in his backyard and harvested this week. Brown, who calls himself a mushroom hunter, soaked his prized possession in salt water to rid the fungus of bacteria and tiny insects before slicing off ‘Mushroom Steaks’ and eating it with his family.
