The Sedalia 200 Instrumental Music Department is pleased to report an outstanding day Wednesday at Boonville. Groups from 30 area schools performed Wednesday and Thursday for a panel of three adjudicators in Thespian Hall and another judge for sight reading, using a rating system of “I” or superior, “II” or excellent, “III” or Good, “IV” or fair and “V” or weak.

The S-C String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and JH Band all got a “II” or Excellent Rating. The S-C Symphonic band received a “I” or superior rating for the first time since 2006. The bands’ next performance will be at the Heckart Performing Arts Center on April 27.

Their next competition will be at the Worlds of Fun Music Festival, also on the 27th, according to C. Grant Maledy, director of Instrumental Music for Smith-Cotton.
