The newly-formed Democratic Club of Pettis County held its first meeting recently at the Best Western State Fair Motor Inn.

The group will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month, it was reported. A meal for those who wish to eat starts at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 6:30.

Paul Breshears, president of the group, called the first meeting to order. It was decided there would be no annual dues and that donations would be accepted to generate funds to promote the club.

Breshears reported that the club will feature a five-minute presentation concerning local events and efforts will be made to involve young people in the group. The intent is to prsent a history or background of the Democratic Party.

Officers other than Breshears include Racheal Finnell, first vice president; Mike Franklin, second vice president; Donna Franklin, secretary; and Marvin Harrelson, treasurer.
