Eugene pulls away early to beat Cole Camp

The Eugene Eagles soared out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat the Cole Camp Bluebirds 8-4 Monday night at Eugene.

Brendan Rusk led the Bluebird offense with two hits in two trips to the plate, scored a run and drove in two. Tanner Oelrichs, Zachary Fox and Brad Martin each had a hit for Cole Camp.

Gunner Williams, Fox and Martin each scored a run.

Eugene collected 15 hits in the game off two Bluebird pitchers.

Connor Balke pitched five innings, allowed seven earned runs, 15 hits, struck out two and walked one and took the loss. Austin Weinberg pitched one inning of relief, allowed one earned run, one hit, walked one and struck out one.

Cole Camp scored two runs in the third and plated two more runs in the fifth to get within 7-4. Eugene scored an insurance run in the sixth.
