Sedville Crazy Quilters report on March 12 meeting

(The Sedville Crazy Quilters Meet on the second Tuesday each month at The Community of Christ Church, 2000 S. Ingram (across from Sedalia Middle School practice fields) at 6:30 p.m.)

President Becky Schnakenberg opened the meeting thanking the refreshment committee, along with recognizing March birthdays and anniversaries. Sickness and Distress was also announced.

March’s Program: The program was presented by Sandra May from Higginsville, MO “Quilts for Cancer Patients”. She told the story of how she began the club. Her club takes donations of fabric and thread and anyone interested in sewing are invited to join their group on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The club is located at the Quilters Harvest in Higginsville. She encouraged us to start our own group here in Sedalia.

Old Business –

Katy Depot Civil War Quilt show: Report was given requesting those who have quilts made out of 1800 reproduction material to donate them for show. The Quilt show will run from April 14th to May 11th. A request was made to contact anyone who does tatting for donations. A suggestion was also made to contact M Towne for some of her primitives. There will be a photographer taking pictures. You may bring your quilts to the April 9 meeting.

March 9 workshop: 14 people attended the 1,600-inch quilt, they were asked to come forward and show off their handiwork.

Constitution changes: Donita presented the changes to the constitution, motion made and seconded, motion carried. Standing rules correction approved by majority of those attending

Nominating Committee was formed to find slate of officers for the upcoming year – Michelle Drum, chairman; Anna Mae Cain, Linda Perkins, Mary Talbott and Laura Stean. Ballot to be presented next month: President – Sharon Dey, Vice President – Cindy Hopewell, Secretary – open, Treasurer – Delores Woolery, Historian – Michelle Drum. The secretary’s position was selected after the meeting with Geri Williams

New Business –

Door Prizes were awarded along with Name that Block awarded.

Numerous retreats were mentioned – including Quilters Harvest bus trip in June and Sisters Outdoor Quilt – Oregon show in July.

Upcoming Quilt Meetings: Mini group will be at Celebration Center on the fourth Thursday of each month, Thrifty Stitchers will be on second Wednesday of each month at Celebration Center; Central MO Longarm Guild will be the third Wednesday of each month.

Everyone is welcome to attend Sedville Crazy Quilt Guild who has an interest in the Quilting Arts.

Next meeting is Tuesday April 9.
