In closed session on Monday, March 18, 2013, the Board of Education of the Sedalia School District #200 hired Mr. Bob Satnan to be Communications Director for the district, along with some part-time teaching duties at Smith-Cotton High School.
Prior to being selected as Communications Director, Mr. Satnan served as editor of the Sedalia Democrat, where he also covered education issues. During his tenure at the Democrat, the paper was named 2012 Daily Newspaper of the Year by the Kansas City Press Club; he also is a multiple-time recipient of Missouri State Teachers Association annual media awards for his reporting on schools and education. Before coming to Sedalia in 2009, Mr. Satnan worked at newspapers in Mesa, Ariz.; Rockford, Ill.; Marion, Ind.; and Columbus, Ind.
Mr. Satnan received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with a related field in English, in 1986 from Franklin College, in Franklin, Ind. He is married to Melany Satnan, and they have two children, Hannah, 18, a Smith-Cotton High School senior; and Chaz, 14, a Smith-Cotton Junior High eighth grader. Photo submitted.
