The Pettis County Republican Women’s group met recently at the FCS Building and heard a candid discussion of the Sedalia Public School District.

Sherri Bond welcomed the members and guests and the minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.

Stephanie Lefevers, a Sedalia School District 200 board member, was the featured speaker and she stressed the need for quality education in the local district.

The members then approved a motion to offer Madison Beard a $100 scholarship. Beard represented the local club as a Breckenridge Scholarship candidate.

Kristeen Cox reported the club donated $200 to the local 40 & 8 veterans’ organization to provide a Christmas dinner party for active duty military from the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base.

Discussion was also heard on the up-coming McKinley Day dinner March 28.
