The State Fair Community College Roadrunners saw their season come to and with a 75-58 loss to the Mineral Area Community College Cardinals Friday night in the first round of the Region XVI playoffs at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo.
The Roadrunners finished 20-10 on the season, and were 13-3 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
Kenny Chery led the Roadrunners in Friday’s loss with 21 points and was 3-for-4 from behind the 3-point line. Joe Thomasson chipped in 17 points with three three-pointers. Ayo Ojo led SFCC on the glass with 13 rebounds, seven on the offensive glass.
Leon Watkins led the Cardinals with 20 points and was one of five Cardinals in double figures.
Mineral Area led 47-35 at halftime and led by as many as 18 at 71-53 in the second half.
Chery led the Roadrunners in scoring this season at 16.4 points per game and shot 49 percent from inside the 3-point line and 44 percent from beyond the arc. Kevin Punter averaged 13.2 points per game.
