The Food Bank’s Adopt A. Buddy program is seeking participants, noting that 4,080 children in Pettis County, or 62 percent, qualify for free and reduced price meals at school.

A news release from the organization said that 210 children at Dresden, Heber Hunt, Horace Mann, Parkview, the Sedalia Middle School, Skyline, Washington, Northwest and Smithton elementary schools currently receive food from the Food Bank’s Buddy Pack program every week.

The cost to participate, according to the Food Bank, is $15 a month, or $180 a year, to provide one Buddy Pack. Checks can be made payable to “Adopt a Buddy” and mailed to the Open Door Service Center, 111 West Sixth, Sedalia, MO., 65301. For more information, contact Jack Menges, director, at Open Door, 660-827-1613.
