Eight of the nine members of the 2012 Smith-Cotton volleyball team were recently awarded Academic All State honors by the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

To earn the award, players must maintain a 3.6 grade point average during the season and play in 90 percent of their team’s games.

Selected Academic All State from the Lady Tigers were: Maddy Foster, Bailey Curry, Cynthia Perez, Courtney Koetting, Haley Gleason, Lauren Lansing, Abby Knight and Hannah Woolery.

S-C was guided by head coach Kristin Miller, and assistants Darla Lansing and Darcia Koetting.

The Lady Tigers finished with a school record high of 19-8-2, their second consecutive winning season. They were 6-4 in the West Central Conference, with two losses each to St. Pius and O’Hara, both state tournament qualifiers.

S-C will be under a new head coach next fall. Miller stepped down after three seasons to return to her home town. Photo submitted.
