Freda Lawson, 83, of rural Windsor, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 10, 1929, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Fred Dickens and Mildred Helen (Gideon) Dickens. On Aug. 6, 1949, in Harrison, Ark., she married Kenneth Gerald Lawson who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2007.
Freda was the manager of Main Street Deli in Belton, for 14 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Windsor. She loved flowers and houseplants and landscaping her yard.
Survivors include two sons, Randy “Ran” Lawson and his wife Barb “Bobbie”, Windsor; Gale Allen Lawson and his wife Gracie, Belton; a daughter, Sandi Ferguson and her husband Bill, Walnut Grove; five grandchildren, Robert Ferguson, Rhonda Ferguson, Rachel Knight and her husband Jason, Bryan Lawson, Kayla Hopkins and her husband Jeremy; a great-grandson, Brayden Hohenfeldt; two sisters, Florence Rhea, Springfield; and Wanda Cooper, Independence; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Dickens, Clifford Dickens, and Bob Dickens; and a sister, Rose Hayden.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Jim Collins officiating. Burial will be in the McConnell Cemetery, near Nixa. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
