Sacred Heart kicked off Catholic Schools Week with a school-wide assembly Monday morning. Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn presented a proclamation observing CSW, which is Jan. 27 – Feb. 2, with the theme “Raise the Standards” with a focus on faith, academics and service. She presented the proclamation to Dr. Mark Register, and the Mayor was presented with a fruit basket by two Sacred Heart students.
Remaining activities for Catholic Schools Week include:
Monday, Jan. 28: 8:45 a.m., All-school opening prayer service, Mayor Horn will sign the Mayoral Proclamation, new gym. Students will be collecting and bringing cans of soup for the “Souper Bowl” collection sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance. Sacred Heart High School Science classes will be hosting a Blood Drive during the day in the Hoying Gym 1 to 5 p.m. St. Jude’s Mathathon begins and will continue through the week.
Tuesday, January 29: Family and Friends are invited to have a school lunch with their students K-5. Lunch Schedule: Grades 4, 5: 10:35 to 11 a.m.; Grades 2, 3: 11:10 to 11:35 a.m.; Grades K-1: 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.. Lunch menu will be Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Hot Roll and Dessert. Sacred Heart students will be entertaining at several nursing homes.
Wednesday, January 30: Active Parents Club will be providing juice and donuts for all students beginning at 8 am. All-School Talent Show, performers will be from Mrs. Edwards’, Mrs. Bahner’s and Mr. Hartman’s classes, New Gym, 12:15 p.m. McDonald’s will have a Sacred Heart School Night at the Broadway location, 4 to 8 pm.
Thursday, January 31: Active Parents Club will provide a luncheon for faculty and staff. Pep Rally for Homecoming/Red and White Day, New Gym, 2:15 p.m.
Friday, February 1: All School Mass with awards for the Teacher of the Year and Alumnus of the Year, 1:30 p.m., Sacred Heart Church.
