Emily G. Hernandez, 76, of Sedalia, died on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. She was born July 22, 1936 in Goliad Texas, a daughter of Jose R. and Manuela (Montes) Garcia.
In July of 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, she was marriedto Guillermo Hernandez, who preceded her in death in August of 1952.
She was self-employed as a day care provider at Nana’s Daycare, and she loved helping the under privileged in the community. She loved to cook, but especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by four children, Laura Wing, of San Antonio, Texas, Willie Hernandez Jr. (Lilly) of San Antonio, Texas, Andrea Robinson (Gary) of Kansas City, Mo., and Lupe G. Warnock (Tim) of Sedalia; two sisters, Elizabeth Pawelek (Edward) of Hondo, Texas, and Doris Guitierrez; one brother, Jose Garcia (Lupe) of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, Sophia, William, Devon, Stephanie, Ryan, Austin, Laura, Nicholas and Trenton; three great grandchildren, Jade, Jordon, and Aubrey.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Adela Weaver, and a brother, Ike Garcia.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Father James Betzen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
