S-C wrestlers drop WCC dual to Clinton

The Smith-Cotton Tiger wrestling team lost 45-34 to the Clinton Cardinals in a West Central Conference match Tuesday night at the Smith-Cotton gym.

S-C took a 6-0 lead right off the bat when Kyle Perez pinned Micah Penfield. S-C padded its lead to 12-0 when Logan Parham won by forfeit at 113 pounds. At 120 pounds, S-C’s Luke Archibeque scored a major decision over Justin Puckett to put the Tigers up 16-0.

Clinton got on the board at 126 pounds when Samuel Bayless won by decision over Zack Wooldridge to close the gap to 16-3. At 132 pounds, S-C’s Tanner Proctor pinned Richard Wirsig to put the Tigers up 22-3.

At 138, S-C’s Colin Debow was pinned by Joshua Ryan to make it 22-9. At 145, Clinton’s Grant Taylor won by forfeit to make it 22-15. At 152, Clinton’s Bradley Brammel pinned Eli Kemp to get Clinton within 22-21.

S-C got back on the winning track at 160, when Jacob Weeks pinned Jerry Bristow to pad the Tiger lead to 28-21. At 170, S-C’s Wade Hagebusch pinned Kieran Kuck to make it 34-21. At 182, Tyler Rivas pinned S-C’s Jonathan Stewart to make it 34-28.

Ay 195, Dakota Stoecklein pinned S-C’s Trevor Slivkov to tie it 34-34. At 220, Logan Nold pinned S-C’s Kyler Taber and at 285, Clinton’s Christian Cates pinned Dylan Keele.
