S-C Lady Tiger swimmers ninth

The Smith-Cotton Lady Tiger swimming and diving team finished ninth out of 13 teams in the Joseph W. Arbisi Invitational Saturday at the Joseph W. Arbisi Memorial Pool at the Sedalia Middle School.

S-C scored 114 points. Lee’s Summit won the meet with 392 points with Platte County second with 261.5 points. Hannibal was third with 265, Raymore Peculiar fourth with 216 and Blue Springs South rounded out the top five with 203 points.

In the 200 medley relay, S-C’s team of Mariah Voitl, Ali Burkholder, Rachel Howieson and Abby Monsees finished ninth. Monsees finished 10th in the 200 free. Burkholder finished second in the 200 IM. Howieson finished 23td and Ali Bankovich 24th in the 50 free. Voitl was 18th in the 100 butterfly.

Bankovich took 21st in the 100 freestyle and Gracie Turner took 36th. Monsees was sixth in the 500 free. Burkholder, Bankovich, Howieson and Monsees finished seventh in the 200 free relay. Burkholder came in sixth in the 100 backstroke. Howieson finished 18th in the 100 breaststroke, Haley Tejada was 29th and Katana Blankenship 32nd.

Bankovich, Voitl, Melissa Rapp and Turner finished eighth in the 400 free relay.

Finishing sixth through 13th in the team standings were: Warrensburg (195), Marshall (190) Harrisonville (144.5), Belton (114), Smit-Cotton (114), Center (53) Lincoln Prep Academ (20) and Webb City (14).
