Lorene Snyder

Lorene Mary Snyder, 97, of Sedalia, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Sylvia Thompson Residence Center. She was born on Dec. 25, 1915, in Pettis County, a daughter of Richard and Mable Byrd.

On Aug. 27, 1932 she was married to Johnnie Cochran, who preceded her in death in April of 1933. She then married William B. Kelley on Jan. 17, 1936. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1944. Her late husband Charley Snyder died Sept. 10, 1985; they were married on March 31, 1951.

She retired from Heber Hunt Elementary School Cafeteria in1983. She loved the children and served at the school for 21 years. She belonged to the Jolly Elders and The Dorcas Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of Bothwell Regional Auxillary and Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children, Barbara (Vernon) Duncan of Sedalia, Bill (Joyce) Kelley of Arkansas and Charles (Pat) Snyder of Fenton; one daughter-in-law, Anita Cochran of Texas; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Cochran, who died in August of 1981.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: John Cochran, Grant, Tim and V.J. Duncan, Brad and Brian Snyder, Pat and Andy Kelley.

Honorary bearers will be Chad and Doug Duncan, Dan Smith, Ross Hall and Richard Stevens.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or Crossroads Hospice in care of the funeral chapel.
