Linda Fisher

Healthline editors recently nominated Linda Fisher’s Early Onset Alzheimer’s blog for the Best Health Blog of 2012. Fisher’s blog currently ranks in the top ten out of more than 300 blogs. The top three health blogs will receive monetary awards and recognition on Healthline.com’s website.

Fisher said that since her nomination, she has seen an increase in visits to her blog site at www.earlyonset.blogspot.com. “I am pleased to be nominated for a second year and see that my blog is reaching a wider audience.” She has blogged about Alzheimer’s since early 2008. “My goal is that my blog will encourage, inspire, and inform readers to live life to the fullest and find humor in everyday life.”

Fisher has been an Alzheimer’s volunteer and advocate since her husband developed early onset dementia in 1995. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Alzheimer’s Association Mid-Missouri Chapter.

For the past 12 years, Fisher has attended the annual Alzheimer’s Association Public Policy Forum in Washington, DC. Conference attendees advocate for Alzheimer’s research and programs to help caregivers. Fisher normally pays her own expenses to attend the forum and visit with legislators. Fisher said the first place $1,000 prize would cover most of the cost to attend this year’s forum.

The public is invited to vote once daily for their favorite blog using their Twitter or Facebook account. Voting ends February 13, 2013, and Fisher hopes that readers of her Early Onset Alzheimer’s blog will find it worthy of being named Healthline’s Best Health Blog of 2012. She encourages everyone to vote daily at www.healthline/health/best-health-blogs-contest.
