Bothwell Regional Health Center has announced key staff positions for the Bothwell Wound Healing Center, which will open late this month.
Longtime Sedalia surgeon Dr. Jeff Wadley will serve as medical director for the wound care center. In that role, he will provide medical oversight for treatment and procedures at the center.
Paulisa Laughlin will serve as program director overseeing strategic planning, marketing and day-to-day operations of the center. Laughlin previously served as coordinator for the wound center at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach and has 12 years of experience in health care and administration.
Former Bothwell registered nurse Katie Case will serve as clinical coordinator. Case has 10 years of nursing experience and more than five years of wound care experience with specialized training in advanced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Bothwell Wound Healing Center, which is located adjacent to the hospital at 667 East 15th, is a joint effort involving the hospital, Healogics, a wound care management company; and physicians. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Healogics manages more than 500 wound care centers nationwide, including centers at Lake Regional Hospital, Boone Hospital and in the Kansas City area.
Bothwell Wound Healing Center will specialize in treating wounds that are difficult to heal, such as diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, venous insufficiency or aftereffects of radiation therapy. The center will have two hyperbaric chambers where patients are treated with pure oxygen to improve blood flow and promote healing.
