Dugan’s Paint & Flooring Center in Sedalia recently presented the Bothwell Regional Health Center Foundation with a donation of $1,165. The funds, which will be earmarked for the Foundation’s Gene Loveall Cancer Services Fund, represent the proceeds from Dugan’s “Let’s Decorate for a Cause” event held Oct. 18 at the company’s Sedalia store.

About 50 women attended the “Let’s Decorate” event, which included dinner, updates on new decorating trends, and a presentation by national guest speaker Sally Morse, who outlined her 10 steps to a perfect room. This is the second year for the event, which last year raised $745 for the cancer fund.

“This was a fantastic event that is certainly growing,” said Foundation Board President David Floyd. “It’s wonderful to have partners like the Kempton family and Dugan’s who give back to the community and get involved in supporting better health care.”

Nearly 400 new cases of cancer were diagnosed at the Susan O’Brien Fischer Cancer Center at Bothwell in 2011. Sixty-two new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed and treated there last year. The center treats about 200 patients per day, providing medical and radiation oncology services. Photo submitted.
