Kathern Ilene Cooper, 58, of Sedalia died after a long illness on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at her home in Sedalia. She was born May 18, 1954 in Ft. Leonardwood, Mo., a daughter of Robert Sr. and Betty Jean (Ousley) Wheetley.
On Nov. 30, 1985, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to James F. Cooper, Jr., whom survives of the home.
She worked as a medical office assistant, and was a former member of Sedalia Business and Professional Women. Kathern enjoyed many activities, such as bird watching, gardening, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. She was known for her charitable works and loved taking care of people.
Besides her husband she is survived by two children; April Dawn Cognato, of East Lansing, Mich., and Jessie Leigh Cooper, of Sedalia; three brothers, Robert Joseph Wheetley, Jr. and his wife Cecilia, of Belleville, Ill., David Michael Wheetley, and his wife Katherine, of Hazelwood, and Kenneth Lee Wheetley and his wife Pamela of Chesterfield; two grandchildren, Ignatius Anthony and Lorenzo Charles Cognato.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Alyssa Wheetley.
A memorial services will be held at a later date.
