The November Women’s Democrat Meeting was held at Golden Corral Restaurant.
President Jane Kelley opened the business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Shirley McCown offered prayer and devotion. Jane Kelly led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Secretary Charli Ackerman read the minutes from the September meeting. Approved
Treasurer Sheryl Von Holten presented the treasury report. Approved
Jane reminded us that we had agreed to start our meetings at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., starting with this current November meeting. All members are encouraged to come and eat in order to patronize the restaurant since there is no charge to use the private meeting room.
Judy Ebers commented on how nice she thought the Democrat Headquarters turned out, the decorations, locations and the functions and meetings during the election season.
Jane mentioned the Christmas Parade on Dec. 1 with the theme being “An Old Fashioned Christmas.” Volunteers are requested to help with a float. Mike and Donna Franklin offered their garage to work on the float the night before the parade.
Jane introduced Marcie Husong, daughter in law to member Connie McLaughlin, and a teacher at Parkview school. As we did last year, our Women’s Club will donate money to purchase gifts and groceries for a family who needs help. Marcie chose a family last year at Christmas time for us as well. She has chosen a family this year of a mother with four small children whose husband has recently been incarcerated. Phyllis Doman motioned that we donate $550 to the family. Marguerite Ellis seconded. All approved. Marcie and another teacher will purchase clothing, gifts, toys and groceries for the family with the money.
Judy Ebers motioned that we also bring items to our December meeting to donate to Casa as we have in the past as well. Charli Ackerman seconded. Approved. Judy will invite Lori Haney (a rep for CASA) to the December meeting to accept donations.
A reminder that our Christmas Party meeting will also be held at Golden Corral on Dec. 17.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
