Hundreds turned out to witness the 10th annual Downtown Sedalia-Hotel Bothwell Thanksgiving Night Christmas Lighting Ceremony & Fireworks Extravaganza, celebrating the 85th anniversary of the Hotel Bothwell.

Mrs. Missouri, Jennifer Jones, followed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ward Choir performed for the crowd gathered for the increasingly-popular event.

A fireworks display from the top of the Hotel Bothwell was synchronized with Christmas holiday music such as: Holly, Jolly Christmas, We Wish you a Merry Christmas, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year and Christmas Eve Sarajevo.

Fireworks event sponsors include: Hotel Bothwell, KIX 105.7/KSDL Radio, Downtown Sedalia Development and the Downtown Merchants.

The event was hosted by Bruce in the Morning from KIX105.7.

The official grand opening of the new Santa House also increased the excitement level among young and old alike. Santa House is presented by the Sedalia Salvation Army.

Santa will appear again from 4 to 7 p.m., and again Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
