Liberty Park Pond now stocked with 1,300 rainbow trout

November 1, 2012

in Local

A total of 1,300 rainbow trout were delivered to the Liberty Park Pond from Bennett Springs on Thursday, November 1 just before 11:30 a.m. Eager anglers were poised to starting fishing the big cement pond as soon as the fish arrived.

The trout stocking is a joint effort between the Missouri Department of Conservation and Sedalia Parks and Recreation. Catch-and-release applies from now through February 1 with a fishing permit. After Feb. 1, a trout tag will be required to catch and keep any trout, according to Trish Yasgur, MDC fisheries managment biologist. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
