A total of 60 pounds of unused or unwanted medication, both prescription and over the counter, from approximately 25 people was collected on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Bothwell Regional Health Center’s Education Center at 14th and Ingram, by the Sedalia Police Department.
This brings the total of over 900 pounds collected over the past three years. The first collection on was on May 9, 2010. Saturday, Sept. 29th was the last one. With the addition of the permanent drop off box at Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, the Sedalia PD will no longer hold these collection sites.
DEA has sponsored a Drug Take Back Day since October 2010. From October 2010 and April 2012, the St. Louis Division (including Sedalia), a five-state region, has collected over 115,833 pounds and nationwide collected 1,547,346 pounds of medications.
