Cervantes named ‘Outstanding JROTC Cadet’

Cadet Major Jovana Cervantes was awarded the Outstanding Cadet for the Martin Warren Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. On April 21, 2012 she read her winning essay to the group at the Sheltered Workshop in Warrensburg. She was presented the Bronze JROTC Medal and a check.

Cervantes winning essay was also sent to state level where she was chosen as the Missouri State Sons of the American Revolution Outstanding JROTC cadet. She was given the Silver JROTC Medal and another check after reading her essay at their annual meeting. The meeting was held in the Grand Plaza Hotel in Branson.

The essay is now at the National level. Announcement of the national-level award is still pending. Cadet Cervantes currently serves as the Smith-Cotton High School JROTC Tiger Battalion Executive Officer.
